For the first blog I asked a couple of friends what exactly is rhythm. The first thing that came to them is that it has beat and it can be fast or slow, for example a drum gives a good constant rhythm. My friends told me to think of rhythm as a particular sequence of motions. Another way to define rhythm is that it has a distinct pattern. I pointed out to this friend that I liked what another friend said. She said that rhythm is basically anything you can dance to again citing the beats and rhythm that is irresistible. My friend, however, disagrees with this definition as he claims it is just too general. He began to taunt me repeating that “see I know rhythm and you don’t.” The best definition and his ending thought on this subject is to think of rhythm as the dynamic movements of sound in time. To me rhythm is a broader concept… I like to think that it as purely the beats in life that separates us from the dead Most people seem to know what it is made up of but not what it is. To me, it is what essentially makes music…well music…oh well…I guess that is a cheesy definition but I like cheese so :P :)

The transcription process was very interesting. I basically stopped some friends in the library and began to just ask them what they thought rhythm was. I am a very random person so this is kind of normal. We basically just stood around and started talking. I am really bad at computers and have never done a blog so this must probably look really awful... (Please help me out) I actually asked many people what is rhythm...including but not limited to the lady that teaches my lsat prep course, my sister, and people at work. I think this assignment just reaffirmed my “weirdness” in the eyes of others…

I choose the specific copywrite because it allows people to share my written rants and copy them but is still owned by me. People don’t have to get permission from me like they have to do with copyrights, they can repost it as long as they just give me some credit… though I doubt that anybody would want to go copy my work. I could get more restrictive “protection” but I think that information should be free.
