I am working on now sorting out my thesis. It is something kind of random, but not so much if you really spend maybe 5 min. with me hehe.
Okay, so I am trying to just figure out where to go exactly with my thesis. I really enjoy this topic and home that perhaps you can help me out with ideas, thoughts, and even edits.
I know this is probably a very small start compared to everybody else. I do have more information and pictures.
I am going to be writing my thesis on the reconstruction of Beirut.
Beirut has been rebuilt 8 times in the past 5,000 years. The reasons for its distruction vary, from being destroyed by man during war, to being destroyed by earthquakes, tidal waves, and other natural events. The first law school ever was located in Beirut giving Beirut the nick name as "Beritus (Berytus) Nutris Legum" meaning Beirut Mother of Law. This law school was destroyed in A.D. 551 by a series of earthquakes (not only earthquakes, but also tidal waves caused by the earthquakes and fires). Beirut is a city that is forever changing. The city never sleeps, and nor do the people. Beirut is quite literally, the city that never dies.
During the Civil War (1975-1991), Beirut was a divided city. The West was Muslim and the East Christian. Since the ending of the civil war, Beirut has become a different city. Still bearing its battle scars, Beirut began the rebuilding process. The beauty of Beirut is not only its desire to live and never die as is shown by its history, it is also a very nice mixture of not only European and Mediterreanean influences but also a mixture of worldwide influences as is shown by its buildings and people. Once called the "Pearl of the Middle East" and the "Paris of the Middle East" this country has strived to regain this title following the end of the civil war.
Please look at these pictures to gain an understanding of how the rebuilding has been accomplished and how beautiful this nation really is, these are only a small amount of pictures and I'm sure that you all can find some more, but these are just pictures I just found that show how incredable this nation is.
Please look at both of these sites, thank you :)

Here are a lot of pictures, but I dont think that anybody could get an idea of what I really am talking about without at least knowing a little bit about how it looks like and how complex it is, after all only about 0.7 times the size of Connecticut. With an area only about 10,200 sq km this nation has approx. 4,556,561 people. This nation is very compact and yet full of its own flavor.
I feel the pictures can say more for now than I could in a million years.
