Hend, I'm glad you're going forward with your idea to set your story in Beirut! I know this is your first draft, too, but it's never to early to feedback on wiki. I'm not sure how you usually work, but I often like to mess around with grammatical voice after I get into some sort of groove, like you've got going, here. Yes, most composition teachers advise writers to write in the active voice, but revising into the active works best for me as a means, not an end--revising passive constructions into active constructions (and vice versa!) is really just a way to manage your flow of information.
