Blog 1:2-7-07 Have you ever had a vision of something you are passionate about and had trouble putting it into words? I find this to be true quite often, perhaps because (as I was discussing with Trey and David after class today) writing has become very pragmatic for me. In business, you write when it is necessary to make a point, cover yourself or discipline a subordinate. It is very rarely a positive experience. So, I am doing my best to break out of that mindset and enjoy the written word again. Thanks to David and Trey for their input today I am going to try a variety of new strategies - including writing things out manually and challenging myself to write more descriptively. Hopefully, with some rehearsal I will be able to attempt the narrative I would like to pursue.

When I was young I sat high in a willow tree near our cottage at a lake in Michigan with a journal in my lap writing for hours at a time. I can remember the sensation of hearing my mother come out the side door calling my name, looking up from my writing and wondering when it had gotten dark. It was an enchanted place, my willow. Unfortunately, now the tree is gone, uprooted when the couple who purchased the cottage from my parents decided to expand it. Hopefully, my writing hasn't gone the way of my willow and I will be able to regain the passion for it that I once had.

Blog 2:2-9-07 I finished and posted a narrative yesterday. You can read it the link listed above this post. I found it an interesting exercise in freeing up my mind and allowing myself to paint with words. I hope to do more of it - and better. I'm glad for your input so don't be shy. I've been an artist too long to fear constructive critique - so let me know what you think of both content and form.

Blog 3:2-11-07 It has been an interesting weekend so far. I worked a double shift at the bookstore on Friday and then, although I intended to catch up on homework yesterday, I slept on and off all day. Today I am still feeling tired but have managed to complete the prompts (only two so far - yes?) and am glad to have my narrative out there. I am starting on the reading of Synch today and hope that Group three will find its name sometime before Wednesday. :) I am enjoying all my classes this semester but am finding the upper level education classes less than challenging. I am glad to be in the honors program. It keeps me sharp.

Blog 4:2-14-07 Happy Valentines Day! As I reflect upon love and life at 6:28 am I am still a bit bleary but appreciate the occasion to celebrate both. It has been a particularly busy week of double shifts at work, projects and tests to prepare for. I am tired and missed my first class on Monday due to illness. It is frustrating when nature works against me and I can't function, but I am feeling stronger and hope to make it through the rest of my scheduled obligations for the week. I am glad to have written my narrative and responded to the prompts this week - although in speaking with Cory yesterday I may have missed the point of his question - but, I will listen and learn more about that in our seminar today and look forward to what the discussion will bring. Later.
