Steven and I decided to use an IM instead, to show the rythem of present day society. The use of IM serves a dual purpose, it records the conversation and simultaneously transcribes it. Even though the converstation speaks to the use of rythem in literature it also contains its own rythem of language. There is an exchange of language that cannot be replicated in the spoken word. For example, the use of hahas or Oks or ellipses. Also one can immediatly identify the patterns of long explinations and short responces, that make thier own beat. The use of IM's also allows both people to revisit previous statements as they feel nessacary, giving the conversation a rythem of interpretation. Furthermore there is a complexity to the interlace because a responce does not alway occur immediatly after a statement, often there might be other intercourse prior to a responce to an earlier question. We took creative liscence with this assignment and thus added another layer to the rythems that we are already exploring.
