One day in the life of Meagan Taylor: God's Narrative

At Home

I tell you what; this girl can sleep! She knows she needs to leave her house in less than 20 minutes, but she still rolls over and hits the snooze button one more time. I’m not helping her out this time if she gets into a traffic jam on her way to school.

That’s what I said 20 minutes ago! Must I quote myself? Proverbs 6:9 “How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, and a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come on you like a bandit.” Ok hurry up my little sloth, get ready for school.

It’s only 9:10 and I already feel like I need a coffee break, what’s she doing down there? Oh good she’s taking the dog out, she cant get into too much trouble doing that. I’ll be right back.

Ahh, I knew someone would step in that pile sooner or later, I mean come on, its right by the door! I hope she notices that she trailed it through the house when she walked in. Hey that fecal footprint kinda resembles Mary...she should try to sell it on eBay.

Surprise surprise, she's not even going to clean up the feces trail in the livingroom. If I've said it once to this girl, I've said it a million times, "cleanliness is next to ME-ness!"

Ah, she left the house, now the real fun begins!

Driving to school

Don’t forget to put your seatbelt on Meagan. Don’t speed Meagan. Don’t run that red light Meagan! Ugh, sometimes I feel like I’m just spinning my wheels. Alright, this time I wont teach you a lesson, but I’m warning you, drive better or I’ll place a little reminder in the form of a totaled car next time! Well, maybe I’ll just scare you a little bit with a close call, to make sure your paying attention…

Class

You really should pay attention to the teacher Meagan and not draw in your notebook. I know you don’t like this class, but would it hurt to listen once in a while? And I know the teacher did not appreciate your last sarcastic remark, I thought I taught you better than that.

I know what your thinking about that girl in the next row, but don’t be so quick to judge Meagan, just because she wears revealing clothes every day does not mean what you think it does.

Yeah, no prob. I made sure his doctor scheduled his appointment early just for you. Sometimes I don’t feel appreciation for the little things I do for you. That’s probably the closest thing to a prayer I’ll get all day out of you.

Driving to work

Now remember what I said about driving last time! Don't rush! I know your schedule is tight getting from school to work, but trust me; I'll take care of it.

I told you to trust me. Now spend your extra time wisely by working on your schoolwork while you wait to clock in.

Ugh...

At work

I think I am going to build your patience today by placing a test in front of you. Today you will have 21 kids instead of your normal 15. I know you can rise to the occasion Meagan, so do your best and do not lose your temper.

I still have faith in you; you’ll get it one of these days Meagan, just keep trying. They are just children, you must find a way to gain their respect and they will listen to you. I have faith that you can do this. Now please stop yelling at them.

Meagan, you cannot play favorites with the children, you just scolded Michael for throwing a rock at another child, but you are not going to scold Alex just because she is adorable? That is not fair. You must be fair with them.

Just think, what would I do...Its not just a catchy slogan for churches and christian schools ya know, I really put thought into that phrase so dont take it lightly!

Ok a little reprieve, they will all leave before 5:45 today. I know it has been a tough day, but given the circumstances, everyone is still alive, so you have not done that bad. Just remember to stay patient with them, they are trying to test your patience, so you must be loving and understanding to rise above them. Remember my infinite wisdom in the book of Proverbs as it says, "Through patience a ruler can be persuaded,and a gentle tongue can break a bone."

Back at home

Ok I know you have a lot of homework and housework to get done, so I have made sure no one, and I mean NO ONE is going to call you tonight so you can get it all done in time to get to bed early tonight.

Meagan keep to your work. You have a lot to do.

Meagan, I know you’ll do the right thing.

Ohh Meagan, you’re going to regret this decision. I know that you think you will have a couple hours before you need to go to bed to get your work done, but as usual your lack of will power to get work done will allow Aaron to persuade you to stay longer.

When you eventually find your way home tonight you will realize there was an assignment you forgot about that you'll be up until 3 o’clock finishing, and you will not have near enough sleep to compete with the tests that I have planned for you tomorrow. Why don’t you listen to me? “The way of a fool seems right, but a wise man listens to advice.”

Well tomorrow is another day, and I’ll be here for you if you need me. I'm gunna get some shut eye for a little while, this job is exhausting.
