Steven's cover of Elliot Smith is a suprisingly soulful display of talent. I was impressed by not only his musical abilty on the guitar but by his vocal skills as well. I have often wished I could channel some of my angst and joy into songs. I have at times created songs but am painfully aware of my lack of musical skill and singing voice and therefore my songs, except for rare exceptions, remain for my ears only. I can only speak for myself but I believe that many of us are frustrated rock stars or wannabe rock stars. For me, it's not so much for the sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll, although it may have been for many years, it is because I think that music is the medium most conducive to emotional expression. And despite my stoic exterior, I am at heart a very emotional person who needs a channel for expressing the spectrum of energy within.
